Kai Reaver is an architect and researcher with over a decade of experience in multidisciplinary design practice, pedagogy and research. His Ph.D. topic was on digital technologies’ influence upon physical space and cities, with a particular emphasis on understanding human experience and interaction through and within virtual and augmented environments. He has thereby focused on the intersection of physical and digital methods, epistemological frame-works and regulatory proposals. He is Head of Architecture / Chief Advisor at the National Association of Architects in Norway and researcher at AHO - The Oslo School of Architecture and Design. As an academic, he has taught experimental research courses at various schools of design in Asia (INDA Bangkok), Switzerland (HEAD Genéve), Austria (UiBK), and Norway (AHO, UiT). Through his research company, Udaru, Reaver has advised numerous companies and organizations with novel solutions to architecture, digitization, participation and strategy, including notable projects such as the digitization strategy for MiA - Norway's largest Museum group, the 100.000 New Trees and the Living Streets master plans in Oslo, and the 2021/22 Nordic Pavilion exhibition at the Venice Biennale. He serves on several institutional and professional boards and panels, and has authored scientific articles in journals such as Buildings, Frontiers of Virtual Reality, Agathón, eCAADe, Cumulus, and others. He is a columnist for the magazine Subjekt, and a frequent lecturer and public speaker on a variety of topics concerning the built environment, technology, and design.
